Bluetopia DJ Guidelines:
- As Bluetopia is a Blues event, DJs are expected to play music that people can Blues dance
to. Your music can cross a wide variety of blues-related genres, but it should be rooted in
Blues. Going outside the genre for more than a song or two constitutes justification for
Bluetopia Organizers to ask Djs to rein it in.
- When you are DJing, please remain attentive to your equipment, especially during song
transitions. While dancing an occasional song isn't a problem, if you put on a playlist and
dance during your whole set, you won't be asked back.
- Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your set. If you play the opening set, be mindful
of the type of music the instructor played during the lesson and modify your song selection so
that the students can practice what they learned for a majority of the first hour of
dancing.
- Please be flexible to changes to your time slot and accommodate jams, announcements or
any other changes the organizers need.
